RECO Hoist and Capital Hoists win South Bank Tower safety award

The high-rise building South Bank Tower in London was originally a thirty storey structure 111 meters high and was completed in 1972. The international consultancy and construction company MACE commenced the redevelopment of the building in January 2013. Six new floors were originally planned to be added to the tower, increasing its height to 128 meters. The new tower was to house 173 apartments, with retail units to be built around the base and the existing podium building increased in height and transformed into new office space. Mid 2013 permission was granted to increase the tower's height by a further 5 floors, bringing the tower to 155 meters, housing 191 high-end luxury apartments, commercial offices and retail units.

Majestic

MACE offers integrated services across the full property and infrastructure life cycle. Their experts in programme and project management, construction delivery, cost consultancy and facilities management thrive within a collaborative and entrepreneurial culture, constantly striving to find better solutions to complex infrastructure and property challenges like the redevelopment of the South Bank Tower. The building has become a majestic architectural statement, built in the Modernist tradition of clean lines, unadorned finishes and light-flooded rooms. It is a confident, soaring design and a distinctive landmark on London's cultural mile; between Royal Festival Hall and Shakespeare's Globe Theatre and adjacent to the iconic Sea Containers House; now home to The Mondrian Hotel.

Excellent work

RECO Hoist and Capital Hoist were given the opportunity by Mace to contribute to the process of reconstruction by providing a twin hoist and additional materials. The project based collaboration ended with the completion of South Bank Tower at the end of 2015. The fine quality of work was definitely noticed by our client. RECO Hoist (in the person of Scott Berry) and Capital Hoist won the safety award for their excellent work while removing the twin hoist on the MACE South Bank Tower project. We are proud and happy that our renowned skills are recognized in such a distinctive way.
