In the middle of 2016 Renaker started a project at Owen Street that would change the Manchester skyline. The high-rise construction will offer over 1500 apartments and add to the growth of Manchester. RECO Hoist Hire was the chosen supplier for three Twin Alimak 650 Passenger Goods Hoists and another three single Alimak 650 Goods Hoists spread over a five year contract. Last month Renaker celebrated topping out the first tower in time on the 20th of April 2019.

Tower A is 66 floors and stands over 200m high with 496 apartment’s and is due to be handed over on 20th December 2019 on schedule.

There is a 5th building in this vast complex offering a 5 story leisure complex boasting a swimming pool, Spa, Saunas, Steam rooms, Jacuzzis, a Gym and a roof top terrace. For those wanting more activity there is a sports hall for 5-aside/volleyball & basketball.
Once Renaker had got started on site their productivity of frames was planned on a 7 day cycle, this quickly accelerated to 5 days. RECO Hoist Hire responded and had labour permanently on site and managed to keep the customer happy with this change in the planned programme.
Owen Street is the tallest building outside London and claims to be the tallest 100% residential building in Europe at its height the site had over 700 works there and over 60 Renaker employees.
“RECO Hoist Hire has provided a top quality service with their staff and engineers, they certainly are a valued sub-contractor. The RECO team have worked with us as we have changed and adapted as the buildings have grown in height, they certainly have played their part in bringing something special to the Manchester skyline and being part of a project we can all be proud of.” – Site Manager- Renaker
Construction of the five buildings is planned for completion by the 1st Quarter of 2021.
